Histories of Psychoanalysis

Ephemera

Aside from material preserved in libraries and archives, documents and other items of interest pertaining to the histories of psychoanalysis are occasionally seen in auction sales and dealers catalogues. Such appearances can be very transitory and as a result potentially interesting historical material can easily become obscure to psychoanalytic scholars, writers, and other interested parties where it becomes sequestered in private collections. Here we shall attempt to curate records of such sightings as we become aware of them, as a form of limited digital archive. With respect to Freud's known correspondence, a very useful index to this is being compiled by Christfried Tögel, the latest draft of which may be found here. No other contributors to the subject have attracted anything approaching this level of interest and their papers, where some survive, need recording and preservation as a matter of priority.

Readers who may hold such material or know of documents and other materials in what we might term the 'market archive' or in private hands are encouraged to contribute details for listing. Please Click Here for how to contact the editors.
